Obey the voice of the Lord!

“…we walk by faith, not by sight.”    “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”                            2 Corinthians 5:7 and Hebrews 11:1

There are many references to obedience in the Bible.  Jeremiah especially uses the term “obey the voice of the Lord” – sometimes they did, sometimes they did not – it ALWAYS worked out better for them when they did obey the voice of the Lord.

Many times, to obey the voice of the Lord means we must walk by faith and not by sight.  Hopefully, as you have read this blog you received that underlying message.

We did not say it directly, but in 2014, as you walked with us during our research trips and through various activities, we hope you saw 2 Corinthians 5:7 demonstrated. Going to unknown areas with no set itinerary, no reservations, no idea of what we would find, just obeying the voice of the Lord, God led us, He moved knowledgeable people into our path who wanted to help – the assurance of things hoped for…

As God continues to lead us, this time His direction is going to take more faith – at least that is how we see it. After 26 years, God is moving us out of Africa.

We do not totally understand and we certainly do not see what lies before us, but we walk by faith and not by sight in obedience to the voice of the Lord.

We still have a few more weeks here.  Research trips continue. Today, Jerry set out on a research trip with one of the national missionary trainees to a people group in north- western Kenya.  So there are still stories to tell about God’s amazing activities “exploring the land” right up until our last day here.

Even though God is telling us to move out of Africa, we are still His missionaries – his emissaries, wherever we live.  God is calling all of His followers to be on mission with Him.

2 Corinthians 5:20 says, “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making His appeal through us…”

Are you an ambassador for Christ?
